J.S. Fugate
He's been running from his past. It just walked into his office.
The System is a virtual world evolved from the old Internet where people work, play, eat, and drink; accessed by hardware that lets them experience everything as though it was real. Hank Harris is a private detective haunted by something he’s carried for twenty years. He and his associates work every shift to close enough cases to keep his struggling agency afloat. Then a woman from his past comes into the office. She’s seeing suspicious behavior at the Commission that runs the System. The kinds of things people would only do if they were planning something big, something that might even put the entire System at risk. Hank is the only one she can trust to figure out what’s going on.The question is whether he’ll close the case before it closes him.
About the Author
J. S. Fugate grew up in Ohio and now lives in Colorado, where he owns several businesses with his wife — who is, by every objective measure, the more impressive of the two. He spent four years as a linguist in the Air Force, which taught him to listen carefully and talk less, a lesson he has applied inconsistently ever since. Past Saving is his first novel. He is cautiously optimistic about the second.
